Transformer Requirement for Tubewell Connection

Generally, it is forbidden to take PTW connection from the public transformer. But if a nearby transformer is available that is already installed under the deposit scheme, then the cable connection can be given from that transformer. But the connection of PTW to the public transformer is forbidden by UPPCL.

For PTW connection of 3 hp, a transformer of 10 kVA, and for PTW connection above 5 hp, a transformer of 25 KVA is to be taken. The connection of 3hp is in single-phase, hence the single-phase transformer is needed. Therefore a transformer of 10 kVA is taken for 3 hp. Similarly, due to the 5 hp transformer being in 3 phases, it becomes mandatory to use a transformer of a minimum of 25 kVA. The minimum rating of the transformer is 25 kVA that is used in a 3 phase supply.
